SI units

Definitions of SI base and derived units are drawn from the International Bureau of Weights and Measures (BIPM) and the SI Brochure. Metric prefixes follow the approved BIPM conventions.

Regional measures

US customary and legal measures are based on National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) handbooks and US federal standards. Imperial and other national measures are based on UK and Commonwealth reference publications.

Time-zone data

Time-zone offsets and daylight saving rules are derived from the IANA Time Zone Database, which is the authoritative source used by operating systems and programming platforms worldwide.

Mathematical constants

Mathematical constants such as pi and standard geometric formulas are taken from established mathematical references and are treated as exact for the precision used in the application.

Cooking standards

Cooking conversions rely on widely accepted reference tables for cup, tablespoon, teaspoon, and weight equivalents. Regional cup sizes are labeled separately because they differ between countries.

Digital storage prefixes

Binary and decimal storage prefixes follow IEC and IEEE conventions. Values are labeled as binary (KiB, MiB, GiB) or decimal (KB, MB, GB) to avoid ambiguity.
