Power measures the rate at which energy is used or produced. A watt is one joule per second. Power is not the same as energy: a high-power device uses energy faster.
Power is the rate of energy use. Energy is the total amount used over time. A 1,000 W heater running for one hour uses 1 kWh of energy.
